Introduction: About This Site And It’s Methodology

First let me explain a bit about the layout of this site. The homepage shows the most recent posts I’ve published regardless of category. In the main menu at the top of the given page you’ll find links to other pages that display specific breakdowns. For instance: The Lenses link will take you to a page with further links by brands, focal, lengths, and other criteria. Sort of a descending design. If you tunnel down you’ll probably find what you are looking for if what you seek is a more general category. Of if you just want to kill some time browsing.

I’ve experimented with writing reviews and the like in the past but really the results always seemed sort of redundant. Instead I’m just collating specifications about various equipment, terminology, and other aspects of being photographically inclined. Where I may write more in time is in the “how to” category. In another site I write and post with the objective of inspiring writers to write. Here I may well seek to inspire photographers to photograph although it may well apply to painters and others with a visual medium.

I think I’d be pretty content if people find this approach to be utilitarian. That is if people find it useful in some way. That’s really good enough for me. I’ll be posting about tons of equipment that I find personally interesting so if you find yourself here and reading this because it’s “interesting” it’s highly likely we share some qualities.

I personally have been diagnosed with Asperger’s some 30 odd years ago and I recognize this likely plays a role in terms of our tendency to focus in on things. For those who maybe don’t know to much about it Asperger’s is a term that referred to a portion of the Autism Spectrum that was higher functioning but still demonstrating some clear markers of the disorder. There has been some debate over the existence of ultra high functioning individuals. Some you might call savants. Non-verbal perhaps but demonstrating a marked specialization that places them in the top 1% of the population in their field of expertise or endeavor. Then by contrast there is the Polymathic individuals. Those who have our tendency to focus on a subject except more in a multi-disciplinary way. Like Leonardo Da Vinci who some speculate was on the ultra high end of the spectrum. Some people do speculate I’m more in the mold of a polymath. Not to Da Vinci’s level but in his day the scope of knowledge was much more limited compared to our world in the 21st century which is awash in data. My main point is that despite the barebones approach to a lot of things in terms of collating data you may also find I connect them to other things and in other ways.
